Minister says roadmap for creating Academic Campus ready

YEREVAN, March 24. /ARKA/. Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Zhanna Andreasyan shared today some features of a "road map," designed to create Academic Campus in the town of Ashtarak, 20 km off the capital Yerevan, which is supposed to shelter all state-run universities of the country.
"We pay special attention to the creation of the Academic Campus, which is one of the largest programs of the government. So, we've already clarified our roadmap," Andreasyan said Friday at a press conference.
She said the campus will consist of three clusters- the art cluster, which will be located on the territory of former Armenfilm studio, technological cluster - it will be located on the territory of Yerevan Institute of Physics and the third cluster, the largest one is to include educational, military and possibly international universities.
In addition to universities, the campus will also have residential areas, research centers, sports infrastructure, a park, and an amphitheater.
In September last year, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that the government intended to consolidate and integrate higher educational institutions and scientific research centers. He said there would be no more than eight state-run universities with full state funding, which would l be brought in line with state standards, starting from physical, educational, research, training, housing infrastructures to international educational programs and qualified and properly paid professors and lecturers. -0-.
