Armenia approves proposal to sign visa elimination agreement with China

Armenia’s government approved today a proposal to sign an agreement with China on the mutual elimination of visa requirements for the citizens of the two countries holding regular passports.
YEREVAN, May 23, /ARKA/. Armenia’s government approved today a proposal to sign an agreement with China on the mutual elimination of visa requirements for the citizens of the two countries holding regular passports.
Deputy Foreign Minister Grigor Hovhannisyan said during a government meeting today that the agreement between the countries establishes a visa-free regime, exempting citizens of Armenia and China from the need to obtain a visa when visiting the country for up to 90 days.
According to him, in order to regulate migration flows, the countries undertake to promptly return citizens who will abuse the visa-free regime. The deputy minister said the introduction of the visa-free regime is expected to give a boost to economic and tourist potentials of the two countries.
At the same time, he noted that a similar agreement with Armenia is already in force with Macao and Hong Kong.
In turn, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the signing of the agreement is included in the list of agreements that were reached during his working visit to China. "We plan to sign the agreement during the visit of the Chinese Foreign Minister to Armenia, and I hope that it will allow to intensify bilateral relations, and Armenian citizens will be able to travel to China without hindrance," said Pashinyan.
“Armenia is interested in the“ One Belt, One Road ”program. The Chinese authorities are also interested in the active participation of Armenia in this project. There are specific agreements on this issue, and it’s time to start their implementation,” said Pashinyan. -0-
