YEREVAN, July 16. /ARKA/. At a meeting on Thursday, the Armenian government approved the procedure for registering companies in the EU trade control and expert support system, terminating registration, and issuing veterinary and sanitary certificates for the export of fish and fishery products from Armenia to EU countries.

According to Armenian Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan, the country has received official permission from the European Commission to export frozen and processed fish, as well as other fishery products, to the EU.

"In 2025-2026, the relevant body of the European Union provided Armenia with information on the procedures and requirements for entering the European market. Significant work has been carried out, and now the process is essentially in its final stage," Papoyan said.

According to him, organizing the export required amendments to the laws "On Food Safety" and "On State Control of Food Safety." The amendments were adopted by the National Assembly and entered into force, after which the government began approving the necessary by-laws.

The minister noted that mandatory export conditions include the registration of fishery producers and processors in the EU trade control and expert support system, as well as product compliance with EU technical regulations and standards.

The Food Safety Inspectorate will register Armenian enterprises.

According to Papoyan, five Armenian companies have already expressed interest in supplying fishery products to the EU and are awaiting completion of the necessary procedures.

Restrictions on products from Armenia to Russia

Russia has restricted the import and shipment of all quarantine products of Armenian origin, as well as their transit through Russia to other EAEU countries. Specifically, the restrictions apply to Jermuk mineral water, alcoholic beverages, vegetables, fruits, and herbs, as well as fish and fish products.

Rosselkhoznadzor explained the decision by the systematic detection of quarantine organisms in plant products and flowers from Armenia.

Amid restrictions, Armenia expanded support for exporters in alternative markets, partially offsetting transportation costs and customs duties on shipments to the EU, UK, and Canada.

On July 2, the government extended the state export support program until July 2026, adding fresh and dried fruits and vegetables, certain food products and beverages, as well as trout and sturgeon to the list of subsidized products.
