Armenian president congratulates Medvedev on his victory in presidential election in Russia

Armenia’s outgoing President Robert Kocharian congratulated today Russia’s First Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on his victory in the presidential election in Russia.
YEREVAN, March 3. /ARKA/. Armenia’s outgoing President Robert Kocharian congratulated today Russia’s First Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on his victory in the presidential election in Russia.

Kocharian attached importance to Armenian-Russian friendly relations and bilateral strategic cooperation, the RA President’s press service reports.

The President appreciated highly Medvedev’s contribution to Armenian-Russian relations and expressed hope that after being elected Russia’s President, he will continue to expand bilateral cooperation.

Kocharian wished the newly elected Russian President good luck in his activities.

Russia’s presidential election was scheduled on March 20. Nearly final results from 99.5 percent of precincts showed that the 42-year-old Medvedev had received 70.23 percent of the vote. Leader of the RF Communist Party of Gennady Zyuganov trailed on 17.76%, Leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia Vladimir Zhirinovsky earned 9.37% of the vote and Chairman of the Democratic Party of Russia Andrei Bogdanov received 1.29%. –0--
