ArmenTel subscribers can already use multimedia message services, said the company’s press secretary Hasmik Chutilian. “On September 25, ArmenTel started the testing-commercial use of MMS for its subscribers,” she said.
YEREVAN, October 12. /ARKA/. ArmenTel subscribers can already use multimedia message services (MMS), said the company’s press secretary Hasmik Chutilian. “On September 25, ArmenTel started the testing-commercial use of MMS for its subscribers,” she said.
Chutilian pointed out that the volume of one MMS is 300KB, which is two hundred times more than the volume of an SMS (Short Message Service).
The testing-commercial use of the MMS service ends in December 1, 2007.
Using mobile devices with MMS support subscribers may receive and send photos, animations, audio-recordings, large texts of more than 1000 symbols addressed to other mobile or any email address. Telephones must have MMS support.
For connecting MMS, subscribers must go to the menu of their mobile telephone, then click the GPRS-WAP service (Internet) and to configure MMS settings. Afterwards, it is necessary to select the code of the telephone model and sand an SMS on 000, after which the service will be activated.
The ArmenTel CJSC, holding a monopoly of stationary telephone communication, is one of the two mobile phone service providers in Armenia. It is owned by the Russian company VimpelCom (under the Beeline brand).
In late 2006, ArmenTel had 608,500 subscribers to stationary telephone communication and 452,000 mobile communication users. Z. Sh. –0--
