YEREVAN, February 15, /ARKA/. The Kremlin has created its own brand of premium vodka, to be served at official events involving the Russian president, Russian RIA Novosti news agency reported.

The new beverage, titled Kremlin Award, was presented at the ProdExpo 2012 exhibit in Moscow on Tuesday. Four companies, including the Moscow-based Cristall distillery, Luding company and Armenian concern Multi Group, were involved in its production. Only the best grains and ethanol brands are used for the vodka, a spokesman for the presidential administration Viktor Khrekov, said Tuesday.

The premium vodka is bottled at Cristall distillery.  Khrekov said the product undergoes additional examination at the Center for Sanitary Inspection of the presidential administration and only then goes on sale.

Khrekov said also that the production of this vodka is part of the administration’s plan to  create and promote high quality products under the Kremlin trademark. Earlier together with Yerevan Ararat distillery it started the production of Kremlin Award brandy and Kremlin Quality champaign in collaboration with Abrau-Durso winery in southern Russia.

The vodka is already being served at Kremlin events, Khrekov said. Neither the outgoing president Dmitry Medvedev nor his prime minister Vladimir Putin have exhibited any liking for vodka, mostly drinking champagne at official events. Putin is also known to drink beer at informal public gatherings. -0-
