YEREVAN, December 13. / ARKA /. A photo of Armenia’s national team striker Yura Movsisyan appeared on the official website of Spartak Moscow FC, one of the top Russian Premier League clubs.
The 25-year-old had expressed a desire to leave the Russian Krasnodar-based club earlier last month after insisting that he is likely to leave his current club for a bigger club that plays in the UEFA Champions League regularly. A statement on Spartak’s website said the last legal formalities of the deal were settled today.
Media reports suggest that Spartak gave the 25-year-old Movsisyan a five-year contract and a salary valued at about 1.5 million Euros. The transfer was said to be worth 7.5 million Euros, making it the highest amount ever paid for an Armenian football player. The previous record was set by Ukraine champions Shakhtar Donetsk who acquired Henrik Mkhitaryan for about 6 million Euros in 2010.
Movsisyan has already scored nine goals in 13 league appearances so far this season.
Movsisyan’s first club was the American Kansas City Wizards (2006-2007, 28 games, 5 goals), then Real Salt Lake (2007-2009, 53 matches, 15 goals). He then played for the Danish Randers (2010-2011, 30 games, 12 goals), and then moved to Russian Krasnodar (2011-2012, 50 games, 23 goals). -0-
